Matthew 11:2-11
Even when hope feels thin, God is still at work. In this second week of Advent, we’re reminded that God’s movement is often quiet—like water disappearing into soil, doing its work where we cannot see. Just like John the Baptist, we ask hard questions when our efforts feel fruitless: Did it matter? Was it worth it? Is God really doing something new? Jesus’ response is gentle and clear: Look again. Listen. Transformation is unfolding. Healing, liberation, good news—signs of a kingdom not built on fear, but on hope. Advent doesn’t demand that we manufacture hope. It invites us to bring whatever hope we have—shaken, trembling, or almost gone—and trust that God is already moving, already renewing, already springing forth new life. This week, may we open our eyes and hearts to perceive God’s work in the world…and in us.
